Commissioner invited to speak in the United States and in London
The Scottish Biometrics Commissioner Dr Brian Plastow will be speaking at an international conference on ‘Biometrics for Government and Law Enforcement’ to be held in Washington, D.C. in December 2024.
The Commissioner will join speakers from the FBI, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Home Office, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Directors of Forensic Services, and various law enforcement and policing agencies to discuss the critical role of biometric data in policing, law enforcement, border control, and national security. The conference is hosted by the U.S. based Institute for Defence and Government Advancement (IDGA). Further details can be found via the following link.
In October 2024, the Commissioner will also deliver a keynote address to the global Biometrics Institute Congress in London as he did in 2023. This year, the Commissioner will discuss the ‘Three Laws of Biometrics’ as an essential component of any public policy framework for the lawful, effective, and ethical use of biometric data and technologies.
